Ettelbruck sits where the Alzette and Wark rivers meet the Sûre and the rolling Éislek begins — a natural base for hiking. This roughly nine-kilometre loop climbs out of the valley basin into the wooded heights around the town.
The town is known as "Patton Town": in December 1944, General Patton's Third US Army halted the German advance here during the Battle of the Bulge, remembered today by a museum and a memorial. The walk combines easily with this piece of history.
Up top, plateaus, wooded ridges and views over the Sûre valley alternate. As the Nordstad's transport hub, Ettelbruck is easy to reach by train and bus from the whole country — the loop starts minutes from the station.
